Edit data stream
The Edit Stream API uses the same request body structure as the Create Stream API, but is invoked using an HTTP PUT request.
To update an existing stream:
- Retrieve the current stream configuration using the Get Stream API.
- Modify the required settings (for example, schedule, dimensions, or measures) in the response payload.
- Send a
PUTrequest with the stream ID and the updated configuration as the request body.
Update Modes
When editing an active stream, Anodot supports two update modes:
Option A: Apply Changes Going Forward (Default)
The updated configuration is applied only to data collected after the stream is updated. Existing metrics remain unchanged.
Option B: Recollect Historical Data
Anodot reprocesses historical data using the updated stream configuration. New metrics are generated and the old ones are deleted in parallel.
To enable this behavior, add the shouldRewind=true query parameter to the request URL:
https://app.anodot.com/api/v2/bc/data-streams/{id}?shouldRewind=true
If shouldRewind is not specified, or is set to false, the stream is updated using the default Apply Changes Going Forward mode.
