Arithmetic operations
Add a fixed value to all data points
Sum a group of metrics
Data validation
Returns the number of metrics reported in each time point
Returns % missing values for each metric in the selected time range
Data interpretation
- Delta -
Useful when you need to monitor the difference between two successive samples in a
counter metric (whose values increases monotonically)
Similar to the Delta function above, this one is useful when you have a metric whose value
increases monotonically, and occasionally resets to zero (e.g., on restart)
Applying the function on a group of metrics will return the contribution of each metric data point
to the total sum as a percentage
Help fit better baselines
Useful for smoothing noisy metrics, which helps fit a better baseline (= better detection)
Perform operations between matched metric pairs
Divide one group of metrics by another to monitor the ratio between matched samples
Compare metric patterns across time
Useful for inspecting whether cyclic / seasonal patterns are seen consistently across a selected
time range
