Setting Anomaly Alert Conditions

The following Alert conditions can be set:

Influencing metrics
Metric Values
Maximum/Minimum metrics in an anomaly

Before setting Alert conditions, you must set an Anomaly alert. See Setting Alert Types.

Important An alert is triggered only when the conditioning metrics meet the additional
specified conditions. Where more than one Influencing Metrics condition defined in the alert, all the Influencing Metrics conditions must be met for the alert to trigger.

To set advanced Alert conditions, scroll down the Alerts condition panel, press Advanced > Additional Conditions +.

  1. Set the Influencing Metrics by selecting the metrics to which the conditions will be applied:
a/  Click the Set button, to display the Set Influencing Metrics dialog box.
b/ Define a metric, the  same way you would in any Metrics expression
Note: There  is no limit to the number of metrics but the 'what' of the metric
must be a single 'what'; for example anomalies_simulation_hit_rate.
  2. In Choose Matching Properties:
a/ Open the Matching Properties drop-down menu. The menu displays the
properties shared by the Influencing metrics and the Alert metrics.
b/ From  the Matching Properties menu, select one or more properties which are
common to both the  Influencing metrics and the Alert metrics.
  3. In set Time Properties:
a/ Set the  time span by which the metrics will be aggregated [1 min/ 5 min/ 1 hr /1 day /1 week].
b/ If to use  to use the values Before or During the anomaly.
  4. In Set Conditions, set conditions on the conditioning metric values. The conditions can be
either one or all of the following conditions:
a/ Above or equal to a value you set
b/ Below or equal to a value you set
c/ Between two values you set
  5. Set missing data conditions
Choose if an alert will be sent if the influencing metrics are not found.
Note default of new alerts - Checked (Do not send alert).

Repeat steps 1-5 to add additional influencing metrics. [Optional]

Note: To help you keep track of the conditions you've set, the auto-fill condition
statement at the top of the Influencing metrics panel is completed.

  1. Set an Anomaly alert.
  2. Scroll down to Advanced > Additional Conditions.
  3. Click the Conditions + icon.
  4. Select Metric values.
  5. Set Metric Values for:
  • Alert on an anomaly with direction Up if the metric value is larger than or equal
    to the set value.
  • Alert on an anomaly with direction Down if the metric value is lower than or
    equal to the set value.

  1. Set an Anomaly alert.
  2. Scroll down to Advanced > Additional Conditions.
  3. Click the Conditions + icon.
  4. Select if you want to set Maximum Metrics in an Anomaly,
Minimum Metrics in an Anomaly or both.
  5. a/ Select Maximum metrics in an anomaly to trigger the alert if there is
a maximum number of metrics in an anomaly
b/ Select Minimum metrics in an anomaly to trigger the alert if there is a
minimum number of metrics  in an anomaly
Note: You can set the maximum or minimum either as absolute values or
    percentages or both.

When you have completed setting and defining the alert and conditions, click Save,
to return to the Edit Alert window.
